Responding
to 748 Ambulance and/or Rescue calls in 2006, the
Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department's Ambulance Unit
was started back in August of 1988.
The M-LFD Ambulance Unit responds with Ambulance
8769 and Ambulance 8767,
which are both well powered Advanced Life support (BLS/ALS)
ambulances, as well as First Response
Vehicle 8799. They are both equipped with today's
latest life-saving equipment.
The Ambulance Unit is housed at Company #3 in Thomaston.
Ambulance 8769 and 8767 are housed at Company #3's firehouse
and First Response Vehicle 8799 is housed at Company
#1's firehouse.
Members of the Ambulance Unit are certified as New
York State Certified First Responders (CFR), Emergency
Medical Technicians (EMT), whom are trained in semi-automatic
defibrillation, Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians-Critical
Care (EMT-CC), whom in addition to basic EMT skills,
are capable of manual defibrillation; starting intravenous
lines (IV); administering medications; and endotracheal
intubation.
