The Company was founded in 1912 and the first Captain was Louis Fox, Sr.. Other original members were Charles Fox, Louis Fox, Jr., Walter Schenck, Claude Brown, William Brown, Charles Fredericks, John L'Hommedieu, Harry Mullon, Clark Roe, William Robinson, and Benjamin Coffin. The firehouse was a corrugated iron shed which housed a hand-drawn hose reel with a capacity of five hundred feet of hose.

In 1917 the Company acquired its first fire truck, a previously owned Ford. It was purchased from the Douglaston Fire Company. An Acme trucks was obtained in 1925 and a Maxim in 1928. A Ford truck was purchased in 1933 equipped with flood lights. A Maxim was purchased in 1943 and in 1948 the Company acquired a Ward La France Pumper. In 1957 a Ward light/rescue truck was purchased.

The Commissioners and others in position have had the foresight to continue to purchase, "state of the art" equipment. Company No. 3 operates today with three pieces of fire apparatus, two pumpers and a Heavy Rescue truck. A 1995 Pierce Heavy Rescue truck, a 1990 Boardman Pumper, and a 2000 KME Pumper.

The original firehouse served Company No. 3 until 1929 when a new firehouse was constructed on the same property. It was enlarged and remodeled in 1955 to its present status. Now, due to the increased size of forth coming fire apparatus there is a need for larger quarters. it has been determined by the Commissioners and the members of the company that the current firehouse is to be demolished. A new fire house was constructed on the previous site. Our members were sad to see the old firehouse go, but understood the need for progress.

In 1989, a brand new state-of-the-art three bay firehouse was constructed at Company 3's existing grounds. Today this firehouse is the home of Engines 8735 and 8733, Heavy Rescue 8730, Ambulances 8769 and 8767.

Company No. 3 is proud of its heritage and of its service to the community. We will never fail to meet our responsibility to the people we serve. We are proud of our progress and look forward to continued service to the community.
