On Tuesday,
December 19th, 2006 at roughly 1320 hours, M-LFD Company
#2 and the Ambulance Unit were toned out to Northern Boulevard
and East Gate Drive in Zone 2. Deputy Chief Dillon (8701)
was the first unit to respond to the alarm and was advised
830 of multiple calls for an auto accident with fire at
that location.
While DC8701 was in route to the scene, 830 updated the
Chief, stating that they were receiving more calls reporting
an auto accident with fire, wires and a utility pole down.
Engine 8725, Ambulance 8769 and Deputy Chief Pitzer (8704)
also responded at this time. Upon DC8701’s arrival
he confirmed all of the above and requested LIPA respond
to the scene for an immediate.
After LIPA shutdown power to the downed utility pole
and wires, the crew of E8725 stretched a 1” ¾
hand line, as well as a foam booster line, and began to
extinguish the fire. Quint 8728 and Engine 8711, detailed
from another alarm that took place during this one, also
responded. All units were up after just over an hour of
operating.
