At
roughly 0845 hours on Saturday, May 12, 2007, M-LFD Company
#5, the Ambulance Unit and Heavy Rescue 8730 were alerted
to the Long Island Expressway South Service Road at Shelter
Rock Road for a reported motor vehicle accident with overturn
and entrapment. Deputy Chief Uttaro (8705) was the first
unit to respond to the alarm.
Upon his arrival he notified dispatch that there were
multiple NCPD Ambulances on the scene and that the occupant
of the overturned vehicle had self-extricated. At this
time DC8705 placed Heavy Rescue 8730 and the Ambulance
Unit on a Signal 13. Company #5, with Rescue 8757 and
Engine 8758, continued in to the scene and applied speedy-dry
to the roadway due to the massive amount of engine fluids
leaking from the overturned vehicle.
A few hours later, at roughly 1105 hours, M-LFD Company
#5, the Ambulance Unit and Heavy Rescue 8730 were alerted
once again to Lakeville Road and Marcus Avenue. Chief
of Department O’Malley (8702) was the first unit
to respond to the alarm and was advised by the dispatcher
that Ex-Captain 2 was on the scene reporting a motor vehicle
accident with overturn and entrapment.
Rescue 8757, Heavy Rescue 8730, Ambulances 8769 and 8767,
all responded to the call within minutes and upon C8702’s
arrival, units were informed that there was one trapped
occupant in a vehicle that was un-stabilized on its side.
C8702 also informed units that there were multiple ambulances
on the scene as well. Rescue 8757 arrived on the scene
within a minute of leaving the firehouse, quickly stabilized
the vehicle, and then placed their Hurst cutter tool into
action to remove the roof of the vehicle. The crew of
Heavy Rescue 8730 assisted in the extrication, while the
crews of A8769 and A8767 assisted in removing the patient
from the vehicle. |
