On Sunday, June
17th, 2007 at 2322 hours, M-LFD Company #5, Heavy Rescue
8730 and the Ambulance Unit were toned out to the Eastbound
Long Island Expressway, West of Lakeville Road. Deputy
Chiefs Uttaro (8705), Pitzer (8704) and Ambulance 8769
were the first units to respond to the alarm, and were
notified that they were responding to a motor vehicle
accident with overturn and entrapment.
While en route, DC8704 advised dispatch that NCPD ESU
was almost on the scene and that the FDNY was also responding
to the same call. The Chief also advised all incoming
units that they would need to enter the expressway via
the Little Neck Parkway entrance. Three occupants had
self-extricated from the overturned vehicle and were transported
via NCPD and FDNY Ambulances with the assistance of Ambulance
8767.
Following this call, Ambulance 8769 handled a second
motor vehicle accident, while Ambulance 8767 and Fly Car
8799 went mutual aid to the Great Neck Vigilant Fire Company
for a Signal 9A.
