While Engine
8746 was enroute to the first of two Signal 10s in Great
Neck, M-L F.D. Engine 8740 was sent to stand by at the
Great Neck Alerts Headquarters during the Vigilant house
fire, but was diverted to Temple Beth El for the second
Signal 10. Engine 8740 stretched a 2.5" attack line
and was joined at Temple Beth El by the following Manhaset-Lakeville
Units: Ambulance Unit, TL8724, E8735 (pumped) and 8703
(assisted IC - Alert Chief Peterson) and 8702.
In addition to aggressively fighting a heavy volume of
fire in the classroom areas of the Temple's school, personnel
also removed sacred religious items from the sanctuary.
Also at the scene were the Plandome FD, Port Washington
FD, New Hyde Park FD, and the Roslyn FD's sent units to
stand by in Port Washington.
