On Monday, October
2nd, 2006, just after 1930 hours, M-LFD Companies 2 and
3 were toned out to a possible house fire on Colonial
Road in the Village of Thomaston, just blocks away from
the Company #3 firehouse.
While en-route to the alarm, Chief of Department O'Malley
(C8702) and Deputy Chief Dugger (DC8703), were advised
by dispatch that they were notified by Nassau County FireCom
of a severe burn victim on the scene and that they were
adding the Ambulance Unit was being added to the original
alarm.
Engine 8735 was the first piece of apparatus to respond
to the alarm and on their arrival transmitted the Signal
10 for a working house fire. When the Signal 10 was transmitted,
Company #1 was added to the alarm and Companies #4 and
#5 were placed on stand-by at their respective firehouses.
The Great Neck Vigilant Fire Company was called to the
scene for a F.A.S.T. Team and responded with Ladder 8312,
Chief of Department 838 and Assistant Chief 839.
The fire was quickly extinguished via two 1” ¾
hand lines off of Engine 8735, and the scene was placed
under control by C8702 after 35 minutes of operating.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal was notified for an immediate
investigation due to the burn victim and suspicious nature
of the fire. |
