On Saturday, March 14, 2020, at approximately 6:02 p.m., M-LFD Companies 3 and 5 were dispatched to the westbound Northern State Parkway, between Shelter Rock Road and New Hyde Park Road for a car fire. Deputy Chiefs Rice (8701), Weisburd (8702), and Farrone (8705), along with Captain Antonelli (8704C), responded immediately after being dispatched. Upon their arrival, the chiefs found a fully involved vehicle fire. E8758 was the first piece of apparatus on scene and stretched a line to extinguish the fire.
While taking up from that alarm, Companies 3, 5 and the Ambulance Unit responded to an auto accident with overturn and entrapment on New Hyde Park Road. Captain Antonelli (8704C) was the first unit to arrive at scene and confirmed an overturned vehicle with a trapped occupant. Crews extricated the occupant who was ultimately transported to an area hospital.
