M-LFD Responds to Overturned Postal Truck on East Shore Road

On Sunday, January 10th, at about 8:20AM, both the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department and the Great Neck Vigilant Fire Company were dispatched to East Shore Road, in the vicinity of the Kensington Pool for an overturned truck. Upon the arrival of units from both departments, a United States Postal Service box truck was found to have overturned onto its side. The driver of the truck was able to extricate himself and was evaluated by EMS crews at the scene for further injuries. Crews from both M-LFD and GNVFC worked side by side to contain a diesel fuel leak from the truck's ruptured saddle tank until the arrival of the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office Hazardous Materials Division. East Shore Road remained closed for several hours as a result of the crash.  All units were released from the scene within forty minutes by Chief of Department Scott Garrigan (8703)
