M-LFD Visits Fireman's Home

Today members of the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department along with members of many Nassau & Suffolk departments went up to the Fireman's home in Hudson NY for the 10th Anniversary of Long Island day at the home. There was a parade and bar-b-q and we had the opportunity to spend time with one of our own members who is a resident at the home, Robbie Hicks from Company 3 (Uncle of Ex-Chief Neil Hicks, and Ex-Captains Let and Pat Hicks). He gave us a tour of the facility and his room, and introduced us to the staff. It is a very impressive place and nothing like any facility we have ever seen that caters to the elderly firefighters who have given so much to their communities. There is also a very large museum on the grounds which houses many pieces of antique fire apparatus, firefighting equipment, and educational exhibits for children. I recommend every member take a ride up and check it out, and while you're there stop in and see Robbie. He loves visitors.  Story by Deputy Chief Stone.
